3D printing of TPS means that the production costs and times can be reduced. Instead of producing hundreds of tiles by hand, the entire shield can be printed directly on the capsule. 

My team utilizes a 3D PotterBot Micro 10 to print the composite material. The resin system is comprised of phenolic resin, nanoclay, carbon fibers, and phenolic microballoons.
